چکیده
Pg. S3, Paragraphs 1-4. I fully agree with the reviewer that the Whipple “dirty snowball” was hit hard by the results from the probes to comet Halley. However, the “dirty snowball” model has continued to persist, despite all data to the contrary and it is for that reason that I chose the word “paradigm.” That seems to be the nature of paradigms; they are so deeply entrenched into the consensus view of scientific community that they remain firmly accepted until the weight of evidence finally becomes so great that they collapse abruptly and catastrophically. However, I also think that the term “paradigm”

Pg. S5. Par. 1. I completely agree with the reviewer that one of the main conclusions of the paper is that the generally accepted view that the endogenous origin of life on Earth “requires careful reconsideration.” The important contributions of comets, asteroids, meteorites, and interstellar dust particles to the Earths biosphere are now becoming more widely understood. However, I do not agree...

Introduction Conclusions References Tables Figures Back Close Abstract Introduction Conclusions References Tables Figures Back Close Abstract The Biosphere is considered to represent the Earth's crust, atmosphere, oceans, and ice caps and the living organisms that survive within this habitat. This paper considers the significance of comets and carbonaceous meteorites to the origin and evolution...

I want to thank Prof. Rozanov for his review of the manuscript and these insightful comments. As Prof. Rozanov is well aware the field of Bacterial Paleontology is still young and not yet thoroughly understood in spite of the many very important contributions of paleontologists who have carefully studied the extensive assemblages of bacterial fossils that are found in Phanerozoic, Proterozoic, ...
متن کاملFormation, Alteration and Delivery of Exogenous High Molecular Weight Organic Compounds: Objectives of the Tanpopo Mission from the Point of View of Chemical Evolution
A wide variety of organic compounds have been detected in such extraterrestrial bodies as carbonaceous chondrites and comets. Amino acids have been confirmed in extracts from carbonaceous chondrites and cometary dusts. It was suggested that these organics were formed in quite cold environments. We irradiated possible interstellar media, such as a frozen mixture of methanol, ammonia and water, w...
متن کاملAre There Cometary Meteorites?
Comets have been often considered as potential sources of meteorites [e.g., 1], but there are no meteorites currently believed to have come from comets. Recent developments, including the identification of comet-asteroid transition objects, new information on the collisional history of Jupiter-Family comets, and on the composition of cometary solids, provide new insights into the topic of comet...
